Designer
of Distinction
Rachelle Schoessler Lynn,
FASID, CID, LEED Fellow
The 2016 ASID Designer of Distinction
award recognizes a professional member
who demonstrates a commitment to the
profession through a significant body of
work representing excellence in interior
design. This award also celebrates the
winner’s efforts to address societal
concerns and advance the profession
by helping to transform lives.
Rachelle Schoessler Lynn is a senior associate at MSR
and a national leader in sustainable design innovation. “Healthy building, green, sustainable, and
high-performance design have always been part of
my passion and practice since I started working in
the industry,” Schoessler Lynn says. “Being intentional about incorporating sustainability into my
design philosophy allows me to create spaces that
improve human health, increase function, and bring
greater enjoyment. Sustainable design allows me to
create, produce, and teach—impacting future generations.” Examples of Schoessler Lynn’s work in this
area include the Phillips Green Institute (a LEED pilot
project), Norman Pointe II (the first LEED-certified
project in Minnesota), the Red Stag Supperclub (the
state’s first LEED-certified restaurant), and The Weidt
Group’s office (certified LEED EBOM Platinum).
In naming her the Designer of Distinction, the
jury admired Schoessler Lynn’s “passion for sustainability and eco-responsibility” and her application
of sustainable principles “in a most aesthetically
pleasing way.” Schoessler Lynn says, “I am honored
to be recognized by my peers with this award. More
importantly, I am honored to share this award with
all whom I have worked with—every project is produced collaboratively. I have had the privilege of
working with great teams.”
